Right now on my desk are piles of people's applications, recommendations, applications. We're right in the middle of the hiring season so but we're coming to the end of that so it's time to wrap that up and get those. I need to figure out how long I need to keep things and then find a place in my file to put the interviewees and the hired people to keep track of those papers. Also I think things people hand me to look at, I tend to pile those up. So I have the file system set up. I've heard about it earlier again with me. I have to just remember to check it. So I'm thinking to put the file on my desk at the end of the day and just keep it there. So I check it first thing in the morning and then put it back and then maybe lay it out again at night when I need to fill it up or put things away at the end of the day.

I typically have sticky notes of messages that I've taken from a phone call or impromptu to do things that come come up throughout the day. And that's typically it.

I think I am pretty successful at keeping a clean desk at work. Now, at home it is a whole different story. My desk there is piled high with papers. Bills that need to be paid, my son's school projects, etc. I can see how this program could be successful when implemented at home.

The things that are on my desk are printed emails, staff/student/parent issues, housing folder, building construction folder, budget codes and reminders of upcoming events or tasks. These could all go into a future folder.
Lee Barrios

Papers that I need to fill out but just haven't had time yet. Or paper's I'm done with but need to keep and just don't have a filing system set up yet.

Most of the papers on my desk are related to behavior documentation that need to be copied and/or copied and filed. There are lots of papers that I also hold onto for future projects, so having a future file system might help me manage and prioritize those extra projects that I need to get done.

Principal
What tends to stick around on my desk are sticky notes for reminders? Sometimes printouts of emails for reminders, sometimes papers concerning disciplinary infractions for students or attendance matters.
Just things that need to be filed. So using a future file would definitely be beneficial. It's just starting the system actually getting used to it.

The thing on my desk that is always around are the little yellow stickie notes. I try to keep the larger things off my desk every day before I leave. I even try to put my notebook or notebooks that I am using inside my desk everyday. However the only thing I can never get rid of are the stickie notes.

Post its! Literally, I have them everywhere! Throughout the week, my goal is to accomplish what is on them and throw them away so by Friday, my desk is cleared off!
Beth Fischer

Papers with the tasks that I have to do….
Estelle Benson
Principal
My desk has my calendar, phone notebook and a stack of papers that I need to deal with. Some of the papers should be dealt with right away. While others just sit there because I don't have a great filing system. I've started using the box method to get rid of papers that I've dealt with. That's helped. Paperwork in general causes me stress.

I have a pad on my desk to organize tasks by :Must Do Now, Can wait until later, can wait until much later. This has been extremely helpful for me this school year in keeping track of what takes priority.
