Hello, everyone. My name is Samantha Bartrom. I am the principal of Coastal Academy High School. We are a charter high school located in San Diego, California, part of the Classical Academies, a group of seven charter schools servicing about 5000 students in Greater San Diego County. So why am I here? Well, I'm the founding principal of our high school. I've been here since 2017, since its inception and I've taken strides since 2017 to grow my own capacity as an instructional leader. Having been in the classroom myself prior to going into administration, I know how it feels like to be observed by your principal and receive feedback. And I sure have done my best to grow my capacity in providing timely, relevant and helpful feedback to teachers. But when I saw this certification program, I saw an opportunity to refine my craft even more. And then also, I'm hoping in addition to getting tips, tricks and gems as it relates to classroom observations, I'm hoping to find a way to better tie that into our end of year evaluations for teachers as well. And then also teachers who are struggling that are on a coaching plan that I really need to see some specific improvement efforts. I run just about every position. You can think of I'm a single administrator in a rule, single independent district. And the reason I have decided to be a part of this is because I want to make sure that evaluations are valuable and have real neat and understanding for the teachers, when I was a teacher, I very much dislike devaluation time because I felt like it was never an accurate picture, and it really didn't mean.
